Water damage is a race. The loss is at its most visible — and most provable — in the first days, while materials are wet, moisture readings are high and the failure point is untouched. It is also when carriers move fastest to narrow the claim: approve drying, question the source, exclude "long-term seepage" and price repairs at a fraction of real cost.
We document the loss while it exists: moisture mapping, photographs of the failed component, affected-material inventories, and a scope that includes what water actually does — wicking up drywall, swelling floors, saturating insulation, feeding mold in wall cavities. Then we negotiate from evidence the carrier can’t wave away.
What the damage looks like
- Burst, frozen or leaking supply lines and fittings
- Failed water heaters, washing-machine hoses and dishwasher lines
- Ceiling stains, sagging drywall or peeling paint below bathrooms
- Buckled, cupped or discolored wood flooring
- Musty odor — moisture trapped in walls or under floors
What carriers routinely leave out
- Saturated insulation and wet framing behind "dried" walls
- Flooring continuity — matching entitles you to a uniform floor, not a patch
- Mold remediation resulting from the covered water loss
- Cabinets and vanities that absorbed water at the toe-kick
Every item on this list is money. Our job is making sure each one is documented, valued and in the claim.
Great guys and great service. Got my check right away and had no issues to repair my floor.
Water Damage questions, answered
The carrier says my leak was "gradual" and denied the claim. Is that the end?
No. Sudden-versus-gradual is the central fight in water claims, and the carrier’s version is not the last word. The failed component, the damage pattern and moisture evidence often prove a sudden discharge — we build that case and press it.
Should I start drying and demolition before the insurer inspects?
Mitigate immediately — your policy requires it — but document first: photos, video, the failed part itself. Keep the broken pipe or hose fitting; it is the single best piece of evidence in the claim.
Does homeowners insurance cover mold after a pipe burst?
When mold results from a covered water loss, remediation is generally part of the claim, though policies often cap it. We identify the applicable limits and make sure remediation, testing and rebuild are all claimed.
