State Adjusting Services

Claim + rebuild

Two licenses. One job done right.

Illinois law draws a clean line through property claims: only a licensed public adjuster may negotiate your settlement, and only a licensed contractor should rebuild your property. We are the first. State Restoration Services is the second.

The short version

  • We negotiate the claim — never the construction
  • SRS builds — never the claim negotiation
  • The settlement scope and the build scope match
  • You may use any contractor you like

The single most common way an Illinois property owner loses money after a storm is this: a contractor knocks on the door and offers to “take care of the insurance.” It sounds like help. Legally, it isn’t allowed — Illinois reserves claim negotiation for licensed public adjusters and attorneys — and practically, it rarely ends well. A contractor who is not permitted to argue your claim will build whatever the carrier decides to pay for. The number comes first; the scope of your repair bends to fit it.

We work the other way around. As licensed public adjusters, our only job is the claim: documenting the loss, valuing it independently and negotiating until the settlement covers the actual repair. Once that scope is agreed, the construction is a separate contract with a separate licensed company — and if you want, that company can be our long-time partner, State Restoration Services.

Why the separation protects you

The estimate isn’t written by the person who has to live with it

Your claim is valued by people whose only interest is the recovery — not by the company hoping to win the construction job at whatever price the carrier approves.

No gap between paperwork and the roof over your head

The scope we win is handed to the builder line by line. Nothing quietly disappears between the settlement and the work.

Supplements get argued properly

When hidden damage appears mid-build, a licensed adjuster reopens the claim with the carrier — a contractor legally can’t.

Your choice stays yours

Use SRS, use your brother-in-law, use whoever you trust. The claim is handled identically. There is no tie-in and never a condition.

William, I am happy that I met you and your team. They finished the roof in a single day, just like you said they would, and left my backyard spotless. Every person I dealt with from your company showed great professionalism.

Questions about the partnership

Can a roofing contractor negotiate my insurance claim in Illinois?

No. Illinois reserves insurance claim negotiation for licensed public adjusters and attorneys. A contractor who offers to "handle the insurance company" for you is either overstepping the law or planning to build to the carrier’s number rather than to the full scope of your loss.

Do I have to use State Restoration Services for the repairs?

No. You may hire any licensed contractor you choose, and your claim is handled exactly the same either way. The partnership exists so the scope we win is the scope that gets built — not to limit your choice.

Who pays the contractor?

Your insurance settlement does, under the terms of your policy. The construction contract is between you and the contractor; our public adjusting fee is separate and comes out of the recovery.
